PROGRAMS
How do you look back on the following topics? How was it arranged, what went well, what could be done better?
* Children program
It was awesome good attendance and good facilitation by participants
* Cultural and touristic outings
We had an amazing touristic trip to the park. It was a dream come true seeing animals in real life situations. Home visits remain so important during these projects in order to realise meaningful cultural exchange. Participants learn a lot from local people so also do the local people. This must be encouraged. It's not always about construction but it's also about interaction. An amazing experience all together
*Life Skills program and Football for Water
The football for water is getting rooted so well. It's a good refleshment within the construction period. It's also one way of showing some talents though in different cultures. Football for water mobilizes even the general populace.
The life skills program was implemented very well with good attendance and active participation. There's need to control especially when there's some big boys and girls they may lead to talk about our of topic. But the facilitators were very smart to control whenever some questions which were out of topic. We encourage to continue with this program it really helps our boys and girls to grow with responsibility
We had the Life Skills program three times.
COOPERATION AND INVOLVEMENT
* Leadership team World Servants
The leadership was very cooperative and focused
*Local leaders / key persons
The presence of the chief added more value to the program it also motivated the community to work extra hard. We had very good participation from headmen and teachers
* Community
The community did a great job, they made sure local material were available at all times they also participated in construction and resource mobilization
* Beneficiaries
The students/pupils community members exhibited ownership by being there always participating in different activities
* (Local) authorities
We visited District Commissioner the Ministry of education (DEBS) Police and the Hospital all these heads of departments were very collaborative we had good time
FACILITATION OF THE TEAM
* Accommodation
Good
*Food
Very good
* Transportation
We had a challenge with the bus of which we didn't expect that to happen. How we solved it, we hired a school Bus from Chipata to Lundazi then the CCAP World Servant Bus remained in chipata the part which was broken was successfully replaced.
*Safety
Good
LESSONS LEARNED
We learnt that proper preparation prevents poor performance, the WS team was really prepared for this remarkable trip, delegation of tasks was excellent there was clear communication to the team members by their leaders. We had challenges on scheduling to meet our plans of 2 game/safari drives at the park so it required us to spend 2 nights at the Park and it was successful we were all happy.
During Football for Water there were some soccer balls, it wasn't clear if those balls were to be given to the local football teams and or they were to be taken back to the Nederlands obviously next time it will be clear if such sporting activities will be there.
