The toilet and girls changing room have been completed. One the teachers house has also been occupied and the other one is still under construction. One of the old teachers house has also been renovated and has been occupied already. The community is very thankful for the huge support that has been given to them which has already helped to change the face of the community.
Chamkoko bouwt verder aan verandering
"Chamkoko is one of the communities which had poor infrastructure in the past. The school had only one permanent teachers house and four permanent classrooms. CCAP education department with support from World servants has constructed two permanent teachers houses and a double toilet. With the additional funds under renovations the school has been supported with one double toilet, kitchen with stores and washroom, renovation of two teachers houses and renovation of one school block with two classrooms. This support will give the school a new shape because the number of structures to be renovated is more than all the other projects and this will really transform the school."
De bouw in Chamkoko gaat door
"The construction of the two teachers houses, toilet and Girls Changing room is progressing well despite the delays due to community participation which has not been at its best. One teachers house is currently almost complete while the other one is still under construction. Painting and fixing of glasses is yet to be done. The progress has been slow but there is hope that by 20th November the teachers houses will be completed. The community is already working on the kitchen for teachers houses and renovation of teachers house. There are already more teachers at the school but the challenge has always been teachers accommodation. The big support in terms of teachers accommodation will obviously ease the challenge at the school."
Een nieuwe update uit Chamkoko
"The community of Chamkoko has concentrated on one teacher’s house which has currently reached the highest point. Bricklaying on the inside walls has also been done which means that most of the work on the walls of the first house has been done. Work on the second house has also started well because the corners have been done and bricklaying work has also commenced. The work is progressing on well and people are committed to completing the structures in good time. The quality of the work is also good and the bricklayers are doing a good job so far."
Bouwmaterialen gearriveerd in Chamkoko
"Construction materials have already been delivered to Chamkoko School and there was a lot of excitement when the materials arrived. The community will start with the mobilization of the materials such as bricks and sand by 15th May 2021 to give room for harvesting of their crops. The members are of the view that it will take only 2 months to complete the construction of the two teachers houses and toilet. They also gave an assurance that the teachers houses will be of good quality and that they will attract teachers to teach at the school and also motivate the teachers who are already teaching at the school."
Chamkoko Community Mobilisation
The people of Chamkoko community were very sad to hear about the cancellation of the 2021 projects due to covid-19. This was after they were informed about the failure by the participants to come and construct with them. The community was also informed that since the participants were not going to come they were expected to construct the teacher’s houses by themselves. The community assured me that this will be done and that they will try their best to come up with quality structures which will be the same as had the group been here. The Senior Group Village headman on behalf of the entire community expressed sadness that the group was not coming because they were eagerly looking forward to hosting the group but also they requested that next time the group should come and stay in their community.

Update on training of leaders on Covid-19 in Chamkoko
Chamkoko School was one of the schools that benefited from the training on covid-19. The training targeted traditional leaders and church leaders and a total of 14 people were trained. The community leaders are expected to reach out to their subjects in the churches and the community members with the knowledge gained from the training. It is expected that 400 people will be sensitized including learners. The training mainly focused on the prevention measures as set out by government and also on how to handle key suspects of covid-19. The community leaders were very thankful to World Servants (with help of EO Metterdaad) for organizing the training through CCAP. They promised to sensitize their subjects on the dangers of covid-19 and make sure that they are safe. Amongst some of the topics covered were signs and symptoms of covid-19, how it is transmitted, how to prevent it from spreading, how dangerous is covid-19 and demonstration on hand washing just to mention a few. The school was also given hand washing facilities including soap to be used by the community. The facilitators were medical personnel from health centres in the catchment area and they also registered their gratitude to World Servants for the resources which they said will help the communities in combating the spread of the virus. CCAP is thankful to World Servants for the training which has helped us to reach out to the school. Since the school is also preparing to host a group it will help in mobilizing them as they continue with the preparations.
