Its Revolution Celebration Day here…..a national holiday. As we sit writing this blog, scores of buses loaded with citizens IN and ON top of the bus go tooting, shooting and hollering by. The people are wild with partying. Thankfully we may sit in safety.
Today we had a look at the progress of the locals. Much was done in our absence! More walls were built up and the floor for the next classroom was completed. It’s hot here and we feel it in our bodies. So we have to take care of ourselves. We need to take a little rest, so in the afternoon we had a break.
Cooked corn came also in the afternoon for us as well as a bag of Mangos.
Then we decided to do our own washing as there was a lot of it….too much for the lady. Quite an experience to handwash on a washboard and buckets the old way. At dinner time we were surrounded by clean washing. Of course it decided to rain right in the middle of the washing so it may take a bit longer to dry than usual but thats just part of Nicaragua. The weather is always unpredictable. Hopefully it doesnt smell now like tonights dinner…..Chicken, Rice and Salad…
